Nutrition really is the 'secret'...who knew?!?!?

Its been a while....
Wow.  It has been months.  Once my dad got sick in January my world kind of fell apart.  Spent a few months going through the motions of daily life, with him in Michigan and me in Illinois.  Thankfully my brother was able to be with him long term, but it hurt not being there.  Hurt like hell.  In March, March 16th to be exact, he passed away.  14 days before his 62nd birthday.  More going through...

YAY ME!!!!!
Workout today was back and biceps…2 1/2 hours of HEAVY weightlifting!!! :)  5th exercise was partial deadlifts, knees up!  Okay so my LAST set was 225 pounds and I pulled that weight up 10 times before I lost my grip from my left hand!!!!  AND I am still NOT bulky!! Tonights Workout...

Change in Routine...

No feeding tube for dad today.  And apparently he did not get his pain meds on time last night, so he told my brother he was CRYING because he was in so much pain!  WTH?!?!?!  Guess I will be going to Michigan again this weekend.  And calling the nurses station every four hours around the clock to make sure he gets his pain meds AS SCHEDULED. Nutrition Boot Camp....
Okay so today I start a 5 week nutrition plan designed to help me see the difference some planned healthy eating can make in my workout routine.  This has been brought about by the fact that I have been hardcore working out for almost a year ((strength training, cardio at least 4/week)) and I am still carrying about 25% body fat.  Plus the fact that I am 40 years young makes lowering my body fat...

let me just say....
After a planned week off from the gym I am definitely ready to get back at it!!  It had been 9 weeks since I had taken a down time, so my body was calling for it.  It felt good.  But I am ready for my workouts again!!!  C’mon Sunday……

Had to make an impromptu trip to Michigan after finding out my dad has been sick for some time and wouldn’t let anyone near him take him to the doctor.  Arrived Sunday night at 9 pm had him in the ER by Monday morning.  Then had to head back home Wednesday afternoon.  Kind of been in a funk ever since.  Not really worried about him, he is in the hospital!  Definitely the right...

Winding down
Day 4…no sun.  Blah.  Is it summer yet?? Had a one hour massage today.  My first EVER! So…a few changes I have noticed that I attribute to my changed lifestyle (exercising!!): Went out to a fave Mexican restaurant Friday night.  Probably been a good 6 weeks since I have done this.  For the first time ever I could not eat the food.  It was so salty!!  I never tasted all of the salt before but suddenly that was all I tasted.  Which is good because I won’t be craving that...

I LOVE Weightlifting!!

Workout Today...
Squats Partial Deadlifts Deadlifts DB Curls Lat Pulls and a whole bunch of other fun stuff!!  The only ‘problem’ with eating every two-three hours is I am continuously hungry!! Breakfast…steel cut oats w/ raisins, cinnamon, and flax seed Snack…protein shake w/ milk and 1/2 banana Pre-workout snack…other 1/2 banana Off to the gym.  :)

Women and working out....
Can I just say….ladies, please, LIFT WEIGHTS!  Cardio is fine and all but weight lifting is what you need to be doing.  I started last April and I am no where near BULKY and I do HEAVY weight lifting.  I have not gained a pound.  Seriously.  I can bench press 100 pounds 9 times for 3 sets.  In April I struggled with the 45 pound bar.  Just Do It!!!
